The No. 4-ranked University of Michigan men's tennis team will hit the road to face two opponents this weekend. The Wolverines first will meet No. 36 Oklahoma State on Friday (Feb. 21) at 6 p.m. CST in Stillwater. On Sunday (Feb. 23), the Wolverines will be in South Bend, Indiana, to battle Notre Dame at 3 p.m.
About the Opponents
Oklahoma State is 7-2 overall this season and is undefeated at home at 4-0. The Cowboys have not played since sweeping San Diego and Northwestern at home on Feb. 7-9, but are ranked No. 36 in the most recent ITA poll (Feb. 18). The doubles match will be a highlight as Michigan's No. 2-ranked doubles team of Andrew Fenty and Mattias Siimar will face Oklahoma State's No. 1-ranked duo of Matej Vocel and Dominik Kellovsky. Both Oklahoma State players are ranked in singles at No. 44 and No. 66 respectively.
Notre Dame heads into the weekend with a 3-4 record and will take on Ohio State and St. Bonaventure on Saturday before Sunday's match with the Wolverines. The Fighting Irish have two ranked doubles teams, both of which include Tristan McCormick -- he is ranked No. 28 pair with Richard Ciamarra; he is part of the No. 29-ranked duo with Axel Nefve. McCormick likely will be in the singles lineup at No. 3.
Series Histories
Michigan and Oklahoma State have met five times with the Wolverines leading, 3-2, in the all-time series. The Cowboys won the last two meetings, 4-1, in 2017 in Ann Arbor and a 4-2 victory in the 2014 NCAA Tournament.
Against Notre Dame, Michigan leads, 47-32, in the all-time series and has won the last three meetings, including a 4-3 win last year and a 4-0 win in the 2018 NCAA Tournament following a 4-3 victory during the regular season.
