LINCOLN, Neb. -- The No. 19-ranked University of Michigan men's tennis team clinched the doubles point and all six singles points to sweep Nebraska, 7-0, on Friday night (April 19) at Dillon Tennis Center.
The Wolverines claimed back-to-back doubles wins to take the first point of the match. The duo of sophomore Mattias Siimar and junior Connor Johnston earned a 6-4 win at No. 1. Sophomore Harrison Brown and freshman Patrick Maloney clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 victory.
Senior Myles Schalet won his team-leading sixth match in a row with a straight-sets victory at No. 3, 6-2, 6-1. Junior Nick Beaty cruised to a straight-sets 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 6, while freshman Andrew Fenty clinched the match for the Maize and Blue at No. 2 with a 6-1, 6-0 win.
Fenty improved to a team-best 24-5 record on the season and moved in a tie for seventh all-time in wins by a freshman in program history.
Michigan also picked up wins from Johnston at No. 6, Siimar at No. 1 and Maloney at No. 4 to earn the clean sweep.
Michigan will conclude its regular-season schedule on Sunday (April 21) at Iowa with first serve scheduled at noon CDT.
