Alex Martin, Collin DeShaw (Feb. 13)
Big Ten Swimmer of the Week -- Junior Alex Martin was named Big Ten Swimmer of the Week after winning the 100-yard butterfly (48.65) and contributing to wins on the 200-yard medley relay (1:29.30) and 400-yard freestyle relay (3:01.73) at Michigan State last Friday (Feb. 8). » Big Ten Release
Big Ten Diver of the Week -- Redshirt junior Collin DeShaw was named Big Ten Diver of the Week after winning the three-meter springboard (372.07), surpassing the NCAA Zone Diving Championship qualifying standard. » Big Ten Release
Miles Smachlo (Jan. 23)
Big Ten Co-Swimmer of the Week -- Junior Miles Smachlo won the 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard butterfly against both Indiana (Jan. 17) and Ohio State (Jan. 19) last week. He went 47.08/1:46.01 against the Hoosiers, and followed that up by going 47.24/1:45.91 two days later against the Buckeyes. He also helped Michigan win the 200-yard medley relay against Ohio State. » Big Ten Release
Swimming & Diving Programs (Jan. 22)
CSCAA Scholar All-America Teams -- The University of Michigan men's and women's swimming and diving teams were both named Scholar All-America Teams for the Fall 2018 semester by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA). » CSCAA Release
Will Chan (Jan. 9)
Big Ten Freshman of the Week -- Will Chan won and set a meet record in 50-meter breaststroke (27.69) and took second in the 100-meter breaststroke (1:02.09) at the Orange Bowl Classic, held in conjunction with the team's training trip back on Jan. 3. He also swam a leg on the team's winning 200-meter freestyle relay (1:31.29). » Big Ten Release
Ricardo Vargas, Ross Todd, Patrick Callan (Dec. 5)
Big Ten Swimmer of the Week -- Sophomore Ricardo Vargas was named Big Ten Swimmer of the Week after dominating the distance races at the UGA Fall Invitational last week (Nov. 29-Dec. 1). He made four individual-event finals, winning the 500-yard freestyle (4:11.45) and 1,650-yard freestyle (14:35.04), ranking No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, in the NCAA rankings. He was also fourth in the 400-yard IM (3:45.04) and eighth in the 200-yard freestyle (1:38.15). » Big Ten Release
Big Ten Co-Diver of the Week -- Sophomore Ross Todd was the best diver all weekend, sweeping all three events. He scored 388.25 on three-meter, 346.30 on platform and 343.90 on one-meter -- all scores meeting the NCAA Zone Diving qualifying standard.
Big Ten Freshman of the Week -- Patrick Callan won the 200-yard freestyle (1:33.89) and was second in the 500-yard freestyle; his time of 4:12.56 now ranks No. 3 in the NCAA.
Charlie Swanson (Nov. 7)
Big Ten Swimmer of the Week -- Junior Charlie Swanson won three individual events in a sweep of Iowa and Denver last weekend in Iowa City. He won the 100-yard breaststroke (55.42), 200-yard IM (1:48.44) and 400-yard IM (3:53.40). It is the first Big Ten weekly honor of his career. » Big Ten Release
