
Michigan to Travel to Purdue to Open Up 2019

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's basketball team (10-4, 1-1 Big Ten) will kick off 2019 with a game at Purdue (10-5, 1-1 Big Ten), its only regular-season contest against the Boilermakers, on Saturday (Jan. 5) at Mackey Arena. Opening tipoff is set for 6 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on Big Ten Network. Â
• Michigan's contest at Purdue marks the first time back in the Hoosier state for a pair of Indiana natives. Amy Dilk (Carmel) was named Indiana Miss Basketball in 2018, with Emily Kiser (Noblesville) joining her on the Indiana All-Star team. The pair also will be back in Indiana later this month (Jan. 24) against the Hoosiers in Bloomington, and for the Big Ten Tournament in March.
• Michigan has received major contributions from the freshman duo of Amy Dilk and Naz Hillmon. Dilk has started all 14 games, ranking 13th among Big Ten freshmen in scoring (7.1 ppg) and third in assists (3.9 apg). She has scored in double figures four times after turning in 14 points against No. 12 Minnesota on Monday (Dec. 31). Hillmon is fourth among Big Ten freshmen in scoring (11.7 per game), fourth in rebounding (6.6) and leads the group in field-goal percentage (.714). Hillmon has a pair of double-doubles and has been named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week twice this season.Â
• Purdue (10-5, 1-1 B1G) will enter Saturday's contest after a 76-69 loss at Wisconsin on Monday (Dec. 31). The Boilermakers feature a trio of double-figure scorers in Karissa McLaughlin (15.9 ppg), Dominique Oden (15.3 ppg) and Ae'Rianna Harris (13.6 ppg) en route to averaging 67.9 points per game on 41.9 percent shooting. Purdue allows 60.4 points per game on 39.4 percent shooting to its opponents. Michigan trails the all-time series against the Boilermakers, 52-20.
• The last four games between Michigan and Purdue have been won by the visiting team. It started when the Boilermakers took a 65-63 win at Crisler on Dec. 31, 2015. On Feb. 14, 2016, U-M responded with a 68-61 win in the last time the two teams played a home-and-home series. The Wolverines won at Mackey Arena, 72-62, on Feb. 8, 2017, with Purdue taking last year's game (Feb. 1), 81-79, on Feb. 1. Four of Michigan's eight wins all-time at Mackey Arena have come under seventh-year head coach Kim Barnes Arico.
• Michigan has been balanced offensively this season, with six different players leading Michigan in scoring through 14 games. On the season, U-M has three players averaging double figures in Hallie Thome (12.4 ppg), Naz Hillmon (11.7 ppg) and Nicole Munger (10.5 ppg). Three more players average 7.1 ppg or more in Deja Church (9.6 ppg), Hailey Brown (7.1 ppg) and Amy Dilk (7.1 ppg).
