Weather Wipes Out Series Finale at Iowa

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- With inclement weather in the forecast, the No. 17-ranked University of Michigan softball team's series finale at Iowa, originally scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on Sunday (March 25), has been canceled and will not be made up.
The Wolverines split two games against Iowa on Friday (March 23) after the teams moved Saturday's game up a day due to the poor weekend weather. Michigan claimed the opener, 4-1, on a third-inning three-run homer from senior Tera Blanco, but could not overcome a deficit in the second slate and fell, 4-3, after its seventh-inning rally fell just short -- and with the bases loaded.
While Michigan has experienced several delays and schedule modifications due to weather over the early season tournament slate, the Iowa game is its first cancellation of the season.
Michigan (24-7) will return home next weekend (Fri-Sun., March 30-April 1), to host Purdue in a three-game series at the Wilpon Complex, home of Alumni Field. Tickets are available through the U-M Ticket Office.
