
Big Ten Schedule Sends Michigan to Nebraska to Start Conference Play

» U-M kicks off conference action this week, traveling to Nebraska to take on the Huskers on the Big Ten Network. It is one of nine games on BTN for the Wolverines during conference play.
» U-M has three players scoring in double figures after the non-conference season in Naz Hillmon (12.6 ppg), Hallie Thome (12.2 ppg) and Nicole Munger (11.3 ppg). The trio combines to shoot 60.3 percent from the floor.
» The Maize and Blue is playing on the road to start Big Ten play for the first time since the 2014-15 season.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's basketball team will begin Big Ten Conference action on Friday (Dec. 28), traveling to Nebraska to take on the Cornhuskers at Pinnacle Bank Arena. The game is scheduled for 6 p.m. CST and can be seen live on the Big Ten Network.
• Michigan is kicking off Big Ten play at Nebraska, the first of two meetings with the Huskers this season. It is the first time since the 2014-15 season that Michigan is beginning conference play on the road. U-M is 4-2 in conference openers under seventh-year head coach Kim Barnes Arico.
• After playing a 16-game Big Ten schedule the last two seasons, the Big Ten season is back to an 18-game schedule for the first time since the 2015-16 season. Michigan will face Michigan State, Nebraska, Iowa, Indiana and Wisconsin in home-and-home series this season. U-M will host Rutgers, Northwestern, Minnesota and Ohio State while playing at Maryland, Illinois, Penn State and Purdue during the conference season.
• Freshman Naz Hillmon has been named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week twice this season and begins conference play ranked second among B1G freshmen in scoring at 12.6 points per game. Hillmon has seven double-figure scoring games this season and is shooting 73.6 percent from the floor -- third nationally. She leads U-M in rebounding at 6.7 boards per game and has already recorded two double-doubles. Hillmon is the first player in program history to wear No. 00.
• Michigan has hit the glass hard this season, averaging 44.7 rebounds per game and a +13.9 rebounding margin. U-M has grabbed at least 40 boards in nine games this season, highlighted by accumulating 60 rebounds twice, at Western Michigan (Nov. 15) and against LIU Brooklyn (Dec. 6). Michigan is second in the Big Ten in rebounding margin. U-M has outrebounded its opponent nine times this season, all resulting in wins. U-M has only been outrebounded one time and has tied its opponent twice.
• Nebraska (5-6) has not played since dropping an 84-80 decision at Arkansas on Dec. 18. The Huskers are balanced offensively, with eight players averaging at least 8.0 points per game. Sam Haiby (11.0 ppg) and Taylor Kissinger (10.3 ppg) lead the way as Nebraska is averaging 77.8 points per game on 44.3 percent shooting. The Husker defense is giving up 71.3 points per contest on 38.9 percent shooting. The teams split the season series last season, with Michigan winning in Lincoln and Nebraska winning at the Big Ten Tournament. The Huskers lead the all-time series, 12-4, with three of Michigan's four wins occurring in the last two seasons.
