
Women's Swimming and Diving to Face Iowa, Denver In Double-Dual Road Clash

The No. 3-ranked University of Michigan women's swimming and diving team (3-0, 1-0 Big Ten) is back in action this weekend, heading to Iowa City, Iowa, for a two-day double-dual meet with Iowa (2-1, 1-1 Big Ten) and Denver (4-1). The meet begins at 6 p.m. CDT on Friday (Nov. 2) at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center, and concludes on Saturday (Nov. 3) at 10 a.m. CDT.

Notes
• Michigan is 35-4 in dual meets since the beginning of the 2014-15 season. It has won its last 26 dual meets against Big Ten opponents.
• The Wolverines continue to be ranked No. 3 in the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) poll, released last Wednesday (Oct. 24). [ Poll ]
• Freshman Maggie MacNeil has made a huge impact in a short time. Against Northwestern on Oct. 20 and in a training suit, she set school and Canham Natatorium records in the 100-yard butterfly (51.49). She won the race by four seconds. It remains the fastest time in the country this season. [ Watch ]
• Senior Siobhán Haughey is also off to a fast start. She has won all five of her individual swims thus far this season, and leads the Big Ten in the 50-yard freestyle (22.23), 100-yard freestyle (47.94), 200-yard freestyle (1:44.45) and 200-yard IM (1:59.08). [ Top Times ]
• Senior Catie DeLoof, sophomore Sierra Schmidt and alum Gabby DeLoof (2015-18) were selected to represent USA Swimming at the 2019 World University Games, held July 4-10, 2019, in Naples, Italy. [ Release ]
• Divers Nikki Canale and Christy Cutshaw have already achieved their NCAA Zone Diving qualifying scores on both one- and three-meter. Both were NCAA Championships qualifiers last season. [ Diving Bests ]
Scouting the Opposition
Iowa -- The Hawkeyes are 2-1 on the season, scoring wins over Michigan State (160-138, Sept. 28) and South Dakota State (231-63, Oct. 27). Iowa also was fourth at the SMU Classic. The Hawkeyes are led by freestyler Hannah Burvill, who ranks in the top 10 of the Big Ten in six events (50-yard freestyle, 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard freestyle, 500-yard freestyle, 100-yard backstroke, 200-yard backstroke). Michigan is 7-1 all-time against Iowa.
Denver -- The Pioneers are 4-1 on the season, notching wins over Colorado State (168-132, Oct. 12), Florida International (130-94, Oct. 19), Tulane (118-87, Oct. 20) and Wyoming (155-145, Oct. 27). A Denver swimmer is ranked tops in The Summit League in all 13 swimming events, led by Brandi Vu (100-yard breaststroke, 200-yard breaststroke, 200-yard IM). Michigan has never faced Denver in a dual meet.
