Sarah Stratigakis (Sept. 26)
Big Ten Freshman of the Week -- Freshman Sarah Stratigakis had a hand in three of Michigan's four goals in a pair of overtime matches last week when U-M earned four points on the road. Against Minnesota, she assisted on U-M's first goal and scored the game-tying goal with 11 seconds left in regulation to force overtime and help Michigan earn a 2-2 draw. Against Wisconsin, Stratigakis assisted on the game-winning goal in the 96th minute to help U-M upset the ninth-ranked Badgers. It was U-M's first win over a top-10 opponent since 2014 (also No. 9 Wisconsin, 9-14-14) and Wisconsin's first conference loss of the season.
Brooke Cilley (Aug. 22)
Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week -- Sophomore Brooke Cilley was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week after helping Michigan open the 2017 season with two shutout victories over Washington (2-0) and Idaho State (4-0). In her first two games starting at center back, Cilley combined to tally four assists, which is currently leading the Big Ten. She assisted on Taylor Timko's goal against Washington, and against Idaho State, she assisted on both of Timko's goal, as well as Michigan's fourth goal from Jada Dayne. With her three assists against ISU, Cilley became the fourth player in program history to tally three assists in a game and the first since Christina Murillo in 2011. With Cilley leading Michigan's defense, the Wolverines gave up just four shots to Idaho State, including just one on goal.
Sarah Stratigakis (Aug. 22)
Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week -- Following her first two games in a Michigan uniform, freshman Sarah Stratigakis was named Big Ten co-Freshman of the Week, along with Northwestern's Madi Kennel. She scored one goal in both wins over Washington (2-0) and Idaho State (4-0). In her first career start versus Washington in the season opener, she scored just 7:16 into the game, which proved to be the game-winner. Against Idaho State, she scored Michigan's third goal.
Reilly Martin, Ani Sarkisian, Taylor Timko (Aug. 14)
Big Ten Preseason Honors List -- Junior Reilly Martin, fifth-year senior co-captain Ani Sarkisian and senior/junior Taylor Timko represent Michigan on the Big Ten Preseason Honors List. Martin was named to the list for the second consecutive season. Martin led Michigan in points a year ago with 24, recording seven goals and 10 assists. Her 10 assists tied for first in the Big Ten. Following the season, she was named Michigan's co-Offensive MVP and a member of the All-Big Ten second team. The movement science major also excels in the classroom and was named to the 2016 CoSIDA Academic All-District Five Team, which combines athletic and academic accomplishments.
Sarkisian, who has started all 61 games in her career to date, was named to the Big Ten Preseason Honors List for the second straight season. Sarkisian finished the 2016 season with six goals and five assists en route to being named to the All-Big Ten second team. She has earned Big Ten postseason honors in each season in Maize and Blue, being selected to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team in 2014 and All-Big Ten first team in 2015.
After being Michigan's leading offensive producer in 2015, with seven goals and three assists, Timko missed the entire 2016 season with a knee injury. Despite playing primarily on the back line, Timko is healthy and primed to be one of Michigan's top scorers in 2017. Timko combined to score five goals in Michigan's two exhibition matches in 2017, including four against Western Michigan. A biology major, she has previously earned Academic All-District and Academic All-Big Ten accolades.
