ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 22-ranked University of Michigan women's basketball team (5-2) completes a short, two-game road swing at Detroit Mercy (0-6) on Monday evening (Dec. 4) at Calihan Hall.
• Michigan is back at Calihan Hall for the first time since capturing the 2017 WNIT title there on April 1. U-M was unable to host the championship game at Crisler, with the athletic department at Detroit Mercy offering an option to keep the game in Michigan. U-M knocked off Georgia Tech in three overtimes, 89-79, to win its first postseason championship. The last time Michigan and Detroit Mercy faced off at Calihan was on Nov. 15, 2015, an 88-61 Wolverine win.
• Michigan will see a familiar face on the sidelines of Detroit Mercy as former Wolverine Madison Ristovski (2013-16) is in her first season as an assistant coach for the Titans. Ristovski graduated as Michigan's career leader in games played (137), now coming in at No. 2 in that category to Siera Thompson. She is 10th in three-pointers made (130) and second all-time in three-point field goal percentage (.395).
• The Titans (0-6) are coming off an 82-74 loss at Kent State, Michigan's opponent on Dec. 10. UDM is averaging 63.3 points per game on 37.0 percent shooting, while allowing 81.7 points per game. The Titans feature a pair of double-figure scorers in Brianne Cohen (18.5 ppg) and Anja Marinkovic (11.2 ppg). Michigan has won 11 of 12 against Detroit and leads the all-time series, 14-12.
• U-M is playing its second straight game on the road in the contest at Detroit Mercy. Michigan knocked off LIU Brooklyn, 86-49, on Saturday afternoon (Dec. 2). After the game at Detroit, U-M will play six straight at Crisler Center to end the non-conference portion of the season and start Big Ten play. Michigan is 2-1 on the road this season.
• After committing a season-high 23 turnovers at Ohio (Nov. 25), the Wolverines have cut down on their miscues the last two games. For the first time since committing just six turnovers against Villanova last season (March 28), U-M was in single digits in turnovers against No. 3 Notre Dame (Nov. 29). The Maize and Blue followed that up with just 13 at LIU Brooklyn (Dec. 2), with the last two games resulting in fewer combined turnovers (22) than the Ohio game.
• Senior Katelynn Flaherty is six three-pointers away from moving into sixth place in Big Ten history. Flaherty enters the Detroit contest with 314 triples, six away from Tori Jankoska's (Michigan State) sixth-place total of 320. Flaherty has scored in double figures in all seven games this season for Michigan, including five 20-point games and one 30-point contest.
