
Timko Earns Academic All-District Recognition

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Senior/junior Taylor Timko of the University of Michigan women's soccer team was named to the Academic All-District Five second team, the College Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA) announced on Thursday (Nov. 9).
To be eligible, nominated student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with a minimum 3.30 cumulative grade-point average, in his/her second year at the current institution and must have played in at least 50 percent of the team's games. Michigan has had at least one student-athlete on the list in all except one year (2008) dating back to 2004.
It marked Timko's second time earning all-district honors, as she was named to the first team in 2015. The Rochester Hills, Michigan, native secured one of the 16 spots on the District Five second team. Timko was one of three players to start all 18 matches this season. As a defender, she finished third on the team in points with 10, on four goals and two assists. Timko recorded a season-high five points against Idaho State (Aug. 20) with two goals and one assist.
Prior to the 2017 season, the biology major was selected to the Big Ten Preseason Honors List and was then voted to the All-Big Ten second team following the conclusion of the regular season.
