The University of Michigan women's basketball team (14-8, 6-5 B1G) is back in action on Sunday (Feb. 8), hosting No. 21 Rutgers (17-5, 8-3 B1G) at 2 p.m. on National Girls and Women in Sports Day at Crisler Center.
• Michigan is looking for the season split with Rutgers, which knocked off U-M earlier this season (Jan. 7) in Piscataway, 81-68. The Scarlet Knights are making their first-ever trip to Ann Arbor.
• U-M is holding a pregame program in the William Davidson Player Development Center as part of National Girls and Women in Sports Day. The event will feature a keynote address from former U-M track star and Olympian Tiffany (Ofili) Porter and a welcome from head coach Kim Barnes Arico.
• The Wolverines are tied for sixth in the Big Ten standings at 6-5 and come in at No. 39 in the latest NCAA RPI.
The Maize and Blue is 10-2 at Crisler Center this season, including a 4-1 mark during conference action.
• Today's game marks the second time Michigan has faced a team twice this season. U-M's double-plays in Big Ten action are Michigan State (2-0), Rutgers (0-1), Ohio State (1-0), Northwestern (1-0) and Illinois (1-0).
• Michigan is second in the Big Ten and eighth nationally in three-point field goal percentage at .387. Sophomore Siera Thompson ranks fifth in the Big Ten, shooting .416 from behind the line. Freshman Katelynn Flaherty is right behind her in sixth (.412), with junior Madison Ristovski (.344) ranking 14th.
• Senior Nicole Elmblad is up to seventh place all-time at Michigan in games played at 120. Elmblad has started 103 career games and ranks 11th at Michigan in career rebounds with 642.
• Michigan features four double-figure scorers in Cyesha Goree (15.1 ppg), Katelynn Flaherty (14.7 ppg), Shannon Smith (14.0 ppg) and Siera Thompson (11.5 ppg). Michigan is 13-5 this season when at least three players score in double figures. Michigan has had seven different players this season record a double-figure scoring game. U-M's fifth-leading scorer is Nicole Elmblad, who is averaging 6.8 points per game. U-M is 4-1 when Elmblad reaches double figures.
• Through 22 games, the Wolverines have already featured three different starting lineups. Siera Thompson, Nicole Elmblad, Cyesha Goree and Shannon Smith have each started all 22 games, with Madison Ristovski, Katelynn Flaherty and Danielle Williams each earning starts this season.
