ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 7-ranked University of Michigan women's soccer team completed its home-opening weekend with a perfect 2-0 record after defeating Bowling Green, 2-0, on Sunday (Aug. 24) at U-M Soccer Stadium. The Wolverines have yet to allow a goal in the 2014 season.

Michigan dominated from start to finish, outshooting Bowling Green, 27-3, and winning the corner kick battle by a lopsided margin of 20-1.

The Wolverines recorded seven shots and five corner kicks in the first 22 minutes of action before they capitalized on a scoring opportunity. Michigan's sixth corner kick of the opening half, by sophomore/freshman Ani Sarkisian (Cresskill, N.J./Cresskill), was cleared out to junior Corinne Harris (Chicago, Ill./Walter Payton College Prep), who sent the ball back across the field to Sarkisian. Sarkisian quickly played the ball back into the box from the right side, and junior Christina Ordonez (Elmhurst, Ill./York) was there to knocked it into the net and give U-M the early 1-0 advantage in the 24th minute.

Michigan kept the gas pedal down for the remainder of the opening stanza, finishing with 10 shots and 13 corner kicks.

For the first 30 minutes of the second half, Michigan kept the pressure on Bowling Green's defense and produced several scoring chances that never yielded a goal, including a shot from Waldeck that clanged off the post in the 66th minute.

In the 78th minute, Harris was taken down in the box on her way to the goal, giving Michigan a penalty kick. Sophomore forward Nicky Waldeck (Chicago, Ill./Western Reserve Academy [Ohio]) stepped up to the penalty spot and knocked the ball passed Falcon keeper Lauren Cadel for Michigan's second goal. After drawing the foul that led to U-M's penalty-kick goal, Harris had a hand in all four Wolverine goals in the home-opening weekend, including three assists.

Freshman goalkeeper Megan Hinz (Eldersburg, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel) made her first career start for the Maize and Blue, playing all 90 minutes and making three saves in the win.

Next up, the Wolverines will hit the road for the first time this season, traveling to San Diego, Calif., for a pair of matches next weekend. Michigan will face San Diego on Friday, Aug. 29 (7:30 p.m. PDT) and San Diego State on Sunday, Aug. 31 (7 p.m. PDT).
