Shelby Gies, Nicole Artz and Sachi Sugiyama each earned their first career NCAA All-America honors. U-M now has 43 gymnasts in program history receive NCAA All-America honors. Additionally, U-M has had at least one gymnast receive NCAA All-America honors in 23 consecutive seasons.
Over the last six meets, U-M is averaging 49.537 on floor exercise.
Joanna Sampson has scored 39.550 or better in the all-around in each of her last five meets. Her score on Friday (39.550) was one quarter-of-a-tenth better than her all-around score at last year's NCAA Championships when she tied for third (39.525). She has scored 39.000 in 31 career meets, eighth on the school's all-time list.
Joanna Sampson has scored 9.950 or higher six times this season. Additionally, half her uneven bars routines have been received at least 9.900 scores.
Joanna Sampson scored her highest balance beam routine since March 15 at the Big Ten Quad (9.900).
Friday's semifinal was only the second time all season that Sachi Sugiyama scored 9.900 on vault (other: Feb. 7 at Illinois).
Michigan scored half-a-tenth higher on uneven bars on Friday (49.325) than it did at the NCAA Athens Regional on April 5 (49.275).
Natalie Beilstein scored 9.900 or better in six of her nine routines this postseason (across vault, uneven bars and floor exercise).
Talia Chiarelli has scored 9.850 on floor exercise in back-to-back meets, tying her career high.
