Team Notes
Michigan captures its fifth straight Big Ten title, the 18th title in the last 20 years and the program's 19th Big Ten championship overall.
Michigan's 19 Big Ten titles are the most for any Big Ten women's program in any sport.
Michigan's entire senior class wraps up their final season of college gymnastics with four Big Ten rings apiece. They become the ninth full U-M class to earn a Big Ten title all four years of their collegiate careers. Additionally, fifth-year seniors Sarah Curtis and Jordan Sexton each graduate with five Big Ten championship rings.
Michigan's 49.525 floor exercise score was the third-highest in Michigan postseason history as well as a season high. The Wolverines scored 49.575 on two occasions -- in the 2000 and 2001 seasons.
Individual Notes
At the conclusion of the meet, senior Kylee Botterman was named the Big Ten Gymnast of the Year. She is the first Wolverine to win the award since Lindsey Bruck (2004-08) was named Big Ten Gymnast of the Year in 2008.
Michigan freshman Shelby Gies was a finalist for Big Ten Freshman of the Year honors. Ohio State's Sarah Miller earned the award.
Senior Kylee Botterman captured her third Big Ten floor exercise title, tying a career high (9.950) to win the event. Beth Wymer and Sarah Cain are the only other Wolverines to win three floor titles in their careers.
Fifth-year senior Jordan Sexton won her very first Big Ten title, capturing the beam crown with a 9.875. Michigan's last Big Ten beam champion was Becky Bernard in 2007.
Botterman recorded her first fall in competition in nearly two years with a stumble on uneven bars. Botterman also failed to win an all-around title for the first time in 11 meets.
Fifth-year senior Sarah Curtis posted a season-best 9.850 on beam and tied a season-high 9.850 on floor.
Freshman Joanna Sampson scored a collegiate-best 9.925 on floor to take runner-up honors.
Freshman Reema Zakharia had a career-best 9.900 on floor.
