Clary Wins Third Silver of the PanPac Championships (Aug. 21) -- Irvine, Calif.
Senior Tyler Clary (Riverside, Calif./Riverside Poly) upped his medal count to three, finishing runner-up in the 200-meter individual medley on the final night of swimming at the 2010 Mutual of Omaha Pan Pacific Championships. Clary finished in 1:57.61, a little more than three seconds behind winner Ryan Lochte.
Peter Vanderkaay (2003-06) placed fifth in the 800-meter freestyle, with Charlie Houchin (2007-10) finishing sixth.

For the second consecutive day, senior Tyler Clary (Riverside, Calif./Riverside Poly) finished runner-up to Ryan Lochte, this time in the 200-meter backstroke on Friday night at the 2010 Mutual of Omaha Pan Pacific Championships. Clary touched the wall in 1:54.90, the second-fastest time in the world this year.
Peter Vanderkaay (2003-06) finished fourth in the 400-meter freestyle, while Charlie Houchin (2007-10) took fifth.

Clary Wins 400 IM Silver, Vanderkaay take 4x200 relay Gold (Aug. 19) -- Irvine, Calif.
Senior Tyler Clary (Riverside, Calif./Riverside Poly) won his second consecutive silver at a world competition, finishing runner-up in the 400-meter individual medley (4:09.55 finals, 4:09.20 prelims) on Thursday night at the 2010 Mutual of Omaha Pan Pacific Championships. Clary took silver in the same event at the 2009 World Championships last summer.
Former Wolverine Peter Vanderkaay (2003-06) won a gold medal as part of the victorious 4x200-meter relay freestyle, swimming the second leg to help the Americans finish in 7:03.84.

Wolverines Complete First Day of PanPac Championships (Aug. 18) -- Irvine, Calif.
Senior Tyler Clary (Riverside, Calif./Riverside Poly) finished seventh in the 200-meter butterfly (1:56.83 finals, 1:55.72 prelims) on the first day of the 2010 Mutual of Omaha Pan Pacific Championships. Incoming freshman Sean Ryan (Hisxon, Tenn./McCallie School) finished fourth in the 1,500-meter freestyle (15:06.34).
Former U-M swimmer Peter Vanderkaay (2003-06) took bronze in the 200-meter freestyle, touching the wall in 1:46.65. Other Michigan swimmers in action on the first day of competition were sophomore Hassaan Abdel Khalik (Mississauga, Ontario/Silverthorn Collegiate), Charlie Houchin (2007-10) and André Schultz (2007-10).

Vanderkaary Finishes Runner-Up; Quartet of Wolverines Named to Pan Pac Roster (Aug. 7) -- Irvine, Calif.
Former Wolverine Peter Vanderkaay (2003-06) finished runner-up (15:03.86) in the 1,500-meter freestyle on the final day of the ConocoPhillips USA Swimming National Championships on Saturday night. Incoming freshman Sean Ryan (Hixson, Tenn./McCallie School) took third in the same race (15:04.84) to earn his Pan Pac roster slot.
Senior Tyler Clary (Riverside, Calif./Riverside Poly) grabbed another third-place finish, touching the wall in 1:56.36 in the 200-meter backstroke, just eight-tenths of a second behind runner-up Aaron Peirsol.
Vanderkaay, Ryan, Clary and former swimmer Charlie Houchin (2007-10) have all earned roster spots to represent the United States at the Pan Pacific Championships, scheduled for Aug. 18-22 in Irvine, Calif. Sophomore Hassaan Abdel Khalik (Mississauga, Ontario/Silverthorn Collegiate) will compete for Canada at the event.

Junior Dan Madwed (Stamford, Conn./Towson) won the consolation final of the 100-meter butterfly (52.94) on the third day of action at the ConocoPhillips USA Swimming National Championships.

Junior Dan Madwed (Stamford, Conn./Towson) finished fifth in the 200-meter butterfly (1:57.98) with Alex Vanderkaay (2005-08) placing seventh (1:59.96) as other Wolverines to compete in an "A" final.

Vanderkaay Wins 400-meter Freestyle at Nationals (Aug. 3) -- Irvine, Calif.
Former swimmer Peter Vanderkaay (2003-006) won the 400-meter freestyle (3:46.88) at the Conoco Phillips USA Swimming National Championships on Tuesday night (Aug. 3). In the same event, former Wolverines Charlie Houchin (2007-10) took third (3:48.30) and Matt Patton (2006-09) finished fifth (3:51.38).
Senior Tyler Clary (Riverside, Calif./Riverside Poly) finished runner-up in the 400-meter individual medley (4:14.12) after having the best preliminary time (4:15.87).

Canadian National Championships (July 28-31) -- Victoria, British Columbia
Sophomore Hassaan Abdel Khalik (Mississauga, Ontario/Silverthorn Collegiate) finished second in the 100-meter freestyle (50.16) to qualify for the Pan Pacific Championships (Aug. 18-22) in Irvine, Calif. Abdel Khalik will be one of 52 swimmers to represent Canada at this summer's premier world event.
Los Angeles Grand Prix (July 8-11) -- Los Angeles, Calif.
Senior Tyler Clary (Riverside, Calif./Riverside Poly) won the 400-meter individual medley (4:16.37) and finished second in both the 200-meter individual medley (2:00.92) and the 200-meter butterfly (1:57.85). He also grabbed fourth place in the 400-meter freestyle (3:53.69) at the four-day Los Angeles Grand Prix.
Former Wolverine Charlie Houchin (2007-10) took third in both the 200-meter freestyle (1:50.45) and the 400-meter freestyle (3:52.53). Meanwhile, former U-M swimmer Adam DeJong (2007-10) finished seventh in the 800-meter freestyle (8:21.04).

Canada Cup (July 1-4) -- Montreal, Quebec
Club Wolverine scored a combined 495 points (men 344, women 151) to win the Canada Cup over the weekend (July 1-4).
Former Wolverine Peter Vanderkaay (2003-06) won two gold medals (100-meter freestyle and 400-meter freestyle) with Alex Vanderkaay (2005-08) and Matt Patton (2006-09) picking up one each in the 400-meter individual medley and 1,500-meter freestyle.
Sophomore Ryan Feeley (Rye, N.Y./Rye) won the 800-meter freestyle (8:20.69) swimming for the Badger Swim Club.
TYR Meet of Champions (June 10-13) -- Mission Viejo, Calif.
Senior Tyler Clary (Riverside, Calif./Riverside Poly) won six events at the TYR Swim Meet of Champions (June 10-13), earning the high point title.
Swimming in long course meters, Clary won six of the eight events he participated in at the four-day event. The three-time NCAA champion won the 100-meter backstroke (55.61), 200-meter individual medley (2:01.37), 200-meter butterfly (2:00.17), 200-meter backstroke (2:00.60), 400-meter freestyle (3:55.73) and 400-meter individual medley (4:19.46). He established new pool and meet records in both the individual medley events. Along with third-place showings in the 200-meter freestyle (1:50.79) and 100-meter freestyle (54.96), Clary racked up 152 points.
Charlotte Ultra Swim (May 14-16)
Sophomore Dan Madwed (Stamford, Conn./Towson) placed second in the 200-meter butterfly (1:59.87) at the Charlotte Ultra Swim, capping off a two-week period of training.
Former Wolverine Peter Vanderkaay (2003-06) was the overall points winner over the course of the event, winning $20,000.
Columbus Grand Prix (April 1-3)
Junior Tyler Clary (Riverside, Calif./Riverside Poly) led a contingent of current and former Wolverines at the Columbus Grand Prix (April 1-3) at Ohio State University. Clary won the 400-meter individual medley in 4:21.72.
Senior Alon Mandel (Netanya, Israel/Eldad) finished fourth in the 100-meter butterfly (54.73), while freshman Miguel Ortiz (Tokyo, Japan/St. Mary's International) took seventh in both the 50-meter freestyle (23.57) and 100-meter freestyle (51.72). Senior Charlie Houchin (Raleigh, N.C./William G. Enloe) touched third in the 400-meter freestyle (3:54.50) as one of six swimmers under the four-minute mark.
Former Wolverine Peter Vanderkaay (2003-06) won the 200-meter freestyle (1:49.99) and the 400-meter freestyle (3:53.46).
