Two Wolverines posted scores that would have been career highs had it not been an exhibition meet, with sophomore Lindsey Bruck earning a 9.775 on vault and sophomore Carol McNamara scoring 9.700 on bars.
Michigan opens the season ranked No. 7 in the GymInfo Preseason Coaches Poll.

Michigan Head Coach Bev Plocki
On the meet ... "This afternoon is a difficult time to hold our intrasquad because I know a lot of our girls have finals in the next few days; in fact, a few have two finals tomorrow. We did very well in our first two rotations and usually you expect the scores to get better on beam and floor, but I think fatigue caught up with us. I think all those long nights studying and then practicing got to us in the second half and that's why some of the scores were lower than normal. Our timing is a little off for this year's intrasquad because we're more fatigued than normal. You can attribute a lot of our falls and flaws tonight to that."
On freshman Katie Lieberman ... "She is a very powerful and dynamic athlete and we just need to get her used to competing in front of big crowds. This is why the intrasquad is so important to us -- it gets the athletes in a real meet situation, not just in the practice gym. Katie is going to make the transition to college gymnastics and help us this year."
On the team's prospects ... "We are concentrating on getting better meet by meet. If we compete well as a team, individual accolades will come. Everyone takes on new roles each year because of graduating seniors and we try to tell the girls that every role is very important -- whether cheering for the team or as a competitor."
Freshman Katie Lieberman
On her first meet as a Wolverine ... "I was nervous before I went out there but I feel confident that we can have a great season. I look forward to making a lot of progress and helping us out this year. There is more pressure in college but that also makes it a lot more fun."
On being a freshman gymnast ... "Being a freshman in college is hard at first because you have to adjust to so much. Not only are you getting to know new teammates and working at another level of gymnastics, you have to adjust to the classwork and a brand new school. All the girls on the team have really helped me adapt and we get together every weekend for team bonding."
