Lexi Funk finished her second season as Michigan's volunteer coach in the 2022 season.
In her first season on staff, Funk teamed up with associate head coach Scott Sherman and assistant coach Maile'ana Kanewa-Hermelyn to be named the WCGA Assistant Coaches of the Year as the program won its first-ever national title. Funk helped the Wolverines to eclipse the 198.000 barrier on four occasions, while Michigan also broke the balance beam (49.600) and uneven bars (49.725) records in the 2021 campaign.
Funk followed it up earning Regional Assistant Coach of the Year honors along with Sherman and Kanewa-Hermelyn in the 2022 season. Michigan topped the national rankings for nine straight weeks to start the 2022 season and continued to set a new standard for Michigan gymnastics. The Wolverines set a program record with a 198.525 at Rutgers, which at the time ranked as the sixth-highest score in NCAA history. In the same meet, U-M set a program record on the vault with a 49.875, the second highest in NCAA history at the time, which included three straight perfect 10.0s.
During her career at Michigan, Funk was named an All-American on the balance beam in the 2019 season and was a three-time All-Big Ten honoree. Funk was an instrumental part of the Wolverines success in her four year career, helping the team to three Big Ten Championships and four consecutive Big Ten regular season championships, while also leading the team to two NCAA Championship appearances in 2017 and 2019.
In the classroom, Funk was named a WCGA Scholastic All-American, a two-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar, and a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree.
Funk completed her degree in Spanish and communication studies in December 2020.
