Notes
• The Wolverines own a 101-31 advantage in the all-time series against Michigan State, dating back to 1978 -- Michigan's inaugural season. U-M claimed two of three in last season's series in Ann Arbor, including a 9-8 walk-off in eight innings in the series rubber match.
• Michigan ranks 11th in the current Big Ten standings with an 8-13 record and could move as high as eighth place after this final weekend series.
• Sophomore outfielder Lauren Putz is climbing Michigan's single-season leaderboard in a handful of categories, most notably RBI, where she is just 10 away from the program record, currently held by Sierra Romero (83, 2015). Putz ranks fifth with 73 RBI and is two away from the fourth spot, held by current Michigan assistant coach Amanda Chidester (75, 2011).
• Putz ranks among the nation's leaders in several offensive categories, listing eighth in RBI per game (1.49), 12th in slugging percentage (.933), 17th in on-base percentage (.560) and 27th with her .454 batting average -- a 41-point improvement on her rookie season average.
• Freshman shortstop Kiley Carr delivered a bases-clearing double in the sixth inning to push Michigan past Indiana, 9-8, last Saturday (April 25). Carr has started the last 13 games at shortstop and batted .324 (12-for-37) over the stretch with five RBI.
• Michigan belted six homers over four games last week, including two apiece from Putz and redshirt junior catcher Lilly Vallimont. Putz leads the Wolverines with a career-best 19 homers on the season. Of Michigan's seven home run leaders, five have posted career highs.
• Junior right-handed pitcher Erin Hoehn tossed her fourth complete-game shutout of the season against Toledo (April 21), allowing three hits and five walks with one strikeout. She set the tone in the first inning, facing four batters and retiring the side on just four pitches. At 90 minutes exactly, it was Michigan's shortest game of the season.
