
Michigan Set for Road Trip to Florida Relays

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 20-ranked University of Michigan women's track and field team will take part in the Florida Relays on Friday and Saturday (April 3 and 4) in Gainesville at the Percy Beard Track.
Notes
• The Wolverines debuted at No. 20 in the first USTFCCCA Rankings, leading the Great Lakes Region and sitting second in the Big Ten.
• Four event groups rank in the top 10 in the nation, with three sitting in the top three. The shot put squad (Elizabeth Tapper, Trinity Franklin, Abigail Russell and Janey Campbell) is first in the NCAA; the 800-meter squad (Emmry Ross, Samantha Hastie, Penelopea Gordon and Coraline Haggarty) is second; and the 1,500-meter squad (Hastie, Gordon, Hannah Pricco and Ross) is third. Meanwhile, the 5,000-meter squad (Brooke Johnston, Anjali Hocker Singh, Sophie Cloutier and Jadyn Zdanavage) is sixth.
• Michigan returns from a split weekend, having sent the distance group to the Raleigh Relays at NC State, and the jumpers and throwers to the Hurricane Collegiate Invitational hosted by Miami.
• In the 800-meter run, Ross posted the No. 8 time on the program performers list (2:04.51) for a second-place finish. Hastie finished third with a season best of 2:06.51, and Haggarty ran a personal best of 2:08.20.
• Hastie ran a personal best of 4:12.59 in the 1,500-meter run for a ninth-place finish, the No. 6 time on the program performers list. Gordon ran a season-best 4:16.08 and Pricco saw a personal-best 4:20.16.
• Russell won the discus throw with a personal best of 54.09m (177 feet, 5 inches), the No. 6 mark on the program performers list. Campbell saw personal bests in the hammer throw (45.23m/148-5) and in the shot put (14.38m/47-2.25) while Chiamaka Odenigbo placed fifth in the javelin throw with a personal-best throw of 27.82m (91-3).
• Michigan will remain on the road next week, heading to Athens, Ga., for the Spec Towns Invitational on Friday and Saturday, April 10-11.
