ATHENS, Ga. -- The University of Michigan women's track and field team concluded competition at the Spec Towns Invitational on Saturday (April 11) at Spec Towns Track, setting a pair of top-10 program times.
Emmry Ross posted a personal-best time of 2:03.76 in the 800-meter invite section, the No. 4 time on the program's performers list. Alyna Lewis finished seventh (2:11.91), and Emma Thomas placed eighth (2:19.67).
Chyler Turner ran a personal-best 13.36 in the 100-meter hurdles preliminary round, the No. 6 time on the program's performers list, to advance to the finals. Turner did not finish the final.
In the 100-meter dash, Amare Harlan ran a personal-best 11.38 (+2.5 m/s) to win her heat and finish fifth overall. The time would have been a program record if wind legal.
Elizabeth Tapper finished sixth in the shot put with a mark of 17.19 meters (56-4.75), just 0.03 meters shy of her season best, while Janey Campbell recorded a personal-best throw of 14.39 meters (47-2.5) to place 14th. In the discus, Abigail Russell finished third with a mark of 53.44 meters (175-4).
The Wolverines will split between a pair of meets next weekend, with the distance crew heading to the Wake Forest Invitational (April 16-17) and the rest of the team competing at the Big Red Classic (April 17-18).
