
Ross Leads Michigan with Top-10 Time at Raleigh Relays

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's track and field team closed out the weekend Saturday (March 28) competing at both the Hurricane Collegiate Invitational at Cobb Stadium and the Raleigh Relays at the Paul Derr Track & Field Facility, highlighted by a top-10 program performance.
Raleigh Relays
The Wolverines took two of the top three spots in the 800-meter run, with Emmry Ross placing second (2:04.51) and Samantha Hastie finishing third (2:06.51). Ross's time ranks No. 8 on Michigan's all-time performers list, while Hastie's mark is a season best.
Coraline Haggarty recorded a personal-best time of 2:08.20 to finish 18th, while Alyna Lewis placed 20th in 2:08.37. Emma Thomas finished 129th with a season-best time of 2:15.16.
Hurricane Collegiate Invitational
In the shot put invite section, Elizabeth Tapper finished third with a mark of 16.87m (55-4.25), while Abigail Russell placed sixth (15.82m, 51-11) and Trinity Franklin finished eighth (15.25m, 50-0.5). In the open section, Janey Campbell posted a personal-best mark of 14.38m (47-2.25) to finish fourth.
Chiamaka Odenigbo recorded a personal-best throw of 27.82m (91-3) in the javelin to place fifth. Gabriella Newman cleared 1.72m (5-7.75) in the high jump to finish fourth.
Michigan will return to the Sunshine State for the Florida Relays in Gainesville, Fla., on April 3-4.
