
Machiniak Posts Top-10 Time in 200-Meter Dash to Open Outdoor Schedule

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The University of Michigan men's track and field team opened its outdoor season on Friday (March 20), setting one top-10 program record at the UCF Black and Gold Invitational at the UCF Soccer and Track Complex.
Sophomore Jake Machiniak made his outdoor debut for the Wolverines, finishing second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 20.77 seconds to crack the top-10 program performers list at No. 3. Will Barhite placed 15th (21.22) and Krish Gupta finished 27th (21.49).
In the 400-meter hurdles, freshman Caleb Root finished 11th with a time of 53.25, and Brayden Kennedy finished 17th (55.59).
Josh Huisman finished third in the shot put with a mark of 17.49m (57 feet, 4.75 inches), while Tyler Baker finished 17th in the long jump with a mark of 6.87m (22-6.5).
Michigan will close out the weekend in Orlando, Fla., on Saturday (March 21), starting with the 110-meter hurdles preliminaries at 11 a.m.
