
Michigan to Play in Women's Champions Classic in NYC

NEW YORK -- The No. 9-ranked University of Michigan women's basketball team will participate in the Women's Champions Classic during the 2026-27 season, facing off against Iowa State on Dec. 5 at the Barclays Center. The game, currently set for 7 p.m., will air on Fox.
Joining Michigan and Iowa State in the third edition of the WCC are Maryland and Connecticut, who will face off after U-M's contest. Single admission tickets will go on sale to the general public on Friday, March 13, at 10 a.m. ET on Ticketmaster.
"We are excited to be included in the Women's Champions Classic," J. Ira and Nicki Harris Head Women's Basketball Coach Kim Barnes Arico said. "Our players always want to challenge themselves against the best, and this will be another opportunity for us to do that. We know the power of the block M, and we love showcasing our team and university on the national stage."
Michigan and Iowa State will face each other for the sixth time, with ISU holding a 3-2 edge in the series. U-M has won the last two games, including an 80-74 victory in the first round of the 2025 NCAA Tournament.
U-M is currently 25-6 and awaiting selection to the 2026 NCAA Tournament. The Wolverines have spent 16 straight weeks ranked in the top 10, have a NET ranking of 6 and nine Quad 1 wins.
