
Wolverines to Begin Four-Match Road Swing at No. 1 Ohio State, Penn State

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's tennis team (5-5, 1-1 Big Ten) begins a four-match road swing this weekend at No. 1 Ohio State (13-2, 1-0 Big Ten) on Friday (March 13) at Ty Ticker Tennis Center. Opening serve is set for 6 p.m. On Sunday (March 15), the Wolverines will take on Penn State (11-4, 0-1 Big Ten) at Sarni Tennis Center in State College, Pa., at noon.

• Michigan enters the weekend with a 5-5 overall record and is 1-1 in the Big Ten after splitting the conference opening weekend against Wisconsin and Nebraska.
• Ohio State is ranked No. 1 in the ITA rankings at 13-2 and defeated travel partner Penn State 4-0 in its Big Ten opener. The Buckeyes have four singles players ranked in the top 30. OSU holds a 76-51-2 advantage in the all-time series with Michigan and has won the last nine meetings.
• Penn State has dominated at home this season, winning nine of 10 matches and is 11-4 overall. Michigan, meanwhile, has dominated the all-time series, holding a 34-8 edge. The Wolverines have won the last seven matches, dating back to 2020.
• Michigan's No. 1 singles player Max Dahlin is ranked No. 10 by the ITA with a 17-3 overall record. He is 8-1 in dual play and is on a six-match win streak.
• Bjorn Swenson, ranked No. 60, is 12-6 this season and is 4-2 in dual play at the No. 2 position.
• Mert Oral is on a five-match win streak in singles and is 6-2 at the No. 4 position. Arnav Bhandari is also on a run, taking victories in his last three matches at No. 5 and 6 singles.
• Michigan's strongest doubles pairing is Dahlin and Pierce Shaya. The duo is 5-0 at No. 1. The Wolverines are 2-1 when winning the doubles point and have rallied twice to win the team match when losing the point.
• Dahlin and Swenson have yet to play a dual doubles match this spring after reaching the NCAA quarterfinals this fall to earn All-America honors. The pair is ranked No. 6 in the ITA.
• The Wolverines take on Illinois on March 20 and Northwestern on March 22 before returning home to host UCLA on Friday, March 27, and USC on Sunday, March 29. Admission to all matches at the Varsity Tennis Center are free.
