EAST LANSING, Mich. -- The No. 9-ranked University of Michigan women's basketball team used a 10-0 run in overtime en route to a 94-91 overtime victory over No. 13-ranked Michigan State on Sunday afternoon (Feb. 1) at the Breslin Center. U-M improved to 2-0 in overtime contests this season.
Michigan State (19-3, 8-3 Big Ten) struck first in the extra session, taking a two-point lead after converting on its opening possession. Mila Holloway answered with a layup, and Olivia Olson followed with a three-point play after a Kendall Dudley steal to give Michigan (19-3, 10-1 Big Ten) an 86-83 advantage. Olson knocked down a triple on Michigan's next possession, and Syla Swords converted a left-handed layup off an Olson assist for a 91-83 lead with 2:23 remaining. U-M made enough free throws down the stretch to close out the 94-91 road win.
