
Wolverines Set for Nuttycombe Invitational in Wisconsin

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's cross country team will compete in the Nuttycombe Invitational on Friday (Oct. 9) at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Course in Madison, Wis. The men's A race will begin at 11:10 a.m. CT, and the full meet will be streamed live on B1G+.
Notes
• Career-best 8-kilometer times from Nathan Lopez, Trent McFarland and Brendan Herger helped Michigan to a runner-up finish at the Loyola Lakefront Invite (Sept. 25).
• Lopez was named co-Big Ten Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week after finishing eighth overall at the Loyola Lakefront Invite, leading all Big Ten competitors at the event.
• Redshirt freshman Jack Bidwell placed 24th in his collegiate cross country debut. He earned Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors, becoming the first Wolverine in program history to earn the award.
• All 10 of Michigan's entrants in the Loyola Lakefront Invitational Championship Race either set a career-best 8-kilometer time or made their collegiate cross country debut.
• Lopez led the Maize and Blue at the 2025 Nuttycombe Invitational, posting a time of 23:40.6 over eight kilometers to place 24th. It was the fastest time by a Michigan runner at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Course since 2013.
• Friday marks the eighth straight year that the Wolverines have competed in the Nuttycombe Invitational. During that span, Michigan has finished among the top 10 as a team three times.
