MADISON, Wis. -- The University of Michigan men's cross country team placed 30th of 35 teams with 696 points at the Nuttycombe Invitational on Friday (Oct. 9) at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Course.
Men's Championship Race (8k)
Nathan Lopez led Michigan with a 75th-place finish in 23:43.2, marking the seventh consecutive scored meet in which he has paced the Wolverines.
Heath McAllister moved up 16 spots over the final two kilometers to place 117th in 24:00.5. Jack Bidwell (24:14.6), Alexander Cameron-Smith (24:19.9) and William Beardsley (24:31.6) rounded out Michigan's five scorers.
Brendan Herger finished 200th in 24:49.6, while Kenny Champ completed the Michigan lineup in 223rd with a time of 25:38.2.
Men's B Race (8k)
Michigan fielded three runners in the B race and did not record a team score. Riley Flemington led the Wolverines with a 90th-place finish in 25:24.3, followed by Marcus Reilly in 95th (25:28.3). Matthew Kmecz made his Michigan debut, finishing 107th in 25:54.1.
The Wolverines will continue their regular season next Friday (Oct. 16) at the Pre-National Invitational in Terre Haute, Ind. The race is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. EDT.
