
Wolverines to Head to Point O'Woods for Jim DeLapa Collegiate Invitational

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Coming off a pair of top-three finishes, the University of Michigan men's golf team heads to Benton Harbor, Mich., for the inaugural Jim DeLapa Collegiate Invitational at Point O' Woods Golf and Country Club. The 13-team field will compete Sunday and Monday (Sept. 28-29) in a 54-hole format, with 36 holes on Sunday (Sept. 28) and the final 18 on Monday (Sept. 29). The championship course will play as a par-70, measuring 7,075 yards.
Notes
• The Jim DeLapa Collegiate Invitational field will be made up of 13 teams, including Central Michigan, Chicago State, Cincinnati, Eastern Michigan, Florida Gulf Coast, Grand Canyon, Michigan, Northern Illinois, Pacific, Princeton, San Francisco, San Jose State and St. Mary's.
• U-M will travel five starters and an individual to the Jim DeLapa Collegiate Invitational. Sophomores RJ Arone, Dean Muratore, Nilay Naik, Nicolas Simon and freshman Jordan Hwang make up the U-M starting five. Sophomore Johnny Solis will travel and play as an individual.
• Michigan pushed its streak of sub-par team scores to six straight, closing with a 283 (-5) in the final round of the Canadian Collegiate Invitational. The Wolverines opened the season with rounds of 281 (-7), 274 (-14) and a program-record-tying 267 (-21) at the Island Resort Collegiate, then followed with tallies of 279 (-9), 277 (-11) and 283 (-5) in Canada. Through six rounds, U-M holds a 276.83 team scoring average.
• Through its first two 54-hole fall events, Michigan has gone a combined 67-under par, posting back-to-back sub-par team totals -- 822 (-42) at the Island Resort Intercollegiate and 839 (-25) at the Canadian Collegiate. The Wolverines' starting five have delivered 21 under-par rounds in 30 opportunities, with four additional rounds at even par.
• With four of five starters placing among the top 15, the Wolverines earned a runner-up finish at the Canadian Collegiate. Muratore and Arone paced the lineup, each tying for fifth with 208 (-8) totals, while Simon and Naik followed with matching 215 (-1) scores to tie for 15th. Michigan opened the season in record-breaking fashion, posting a program-best 822 (-42) to finish third at the Island Resort Intercollegiate.
• Michigan has posted 10 sub-par finishes across its last 14 54-hole tournaments. Overall, the Wolverines are averaging nearly two strokes under par with a 214.14 team scoring average. On a round-by-round basis, the Wolverines have played 24 of 42 rounds under par this season.
• Owning a team-best 68.83 scoring average, Arone has opened the season with six straight sub-par rounds. He tied for eighth at the Island Resort Intercollegiate with a career-low 205 (-11) before adding a tie for fifth at the Canadian Collegiate with a 208 (-8) total.
• Muratore has opened the fall with five of six rounds under par, carrying a 69.67 scoring average. He tied for 23rd at the Island Resort Intercollegiate with a 210 (-6), highlighted by a career-low 65 (-7) in the final round, then followed with a career-best 208 (-8) at the Canadian Collegiate to secure his first career top-five finish.
