
Herger, McFarland Earn Second Team All-America Honors to Close Out NCAA Championships

EUGENE, Ore. -- The University of Michigan men's track and field team closed out the 2025 season at the NCAA Outdoor Championships hosted by Oregon at Hayward Field on Friday (June 3) with two Wolverines collecting All-America second-team honors.
Trent McFarland and Brendan Herger were the lone Wolverines to compete, running in the 1,500-meter run. The race remained close the entire way, with just 1.45 seconds separating the first- through 12th-place finishers.
Herger was the first Wolverine to cross the finish line, coming in ninth with a time of 3:47.88. McFarland finished 11th with a time of 3:47.94. Herger finished 0.62 seconds behind winner Nathan Green of Washington and 0.15 seconds from a podium finish.
Michigan will look to international competition next, with select members of the team continuing their campaigns at their respective senior level and U20 national championships.
