
U-M Set for NCAA East Region First Round at North Florida

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's track and field team will continue with postseason competition at the NCAA East Region First Round at Visit Jax Track hosted by North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla., on Thursday, May 29, and Saturday, May 31, in Hodges Stadium. Coverage will air on ESPN+ both days.

• Thirteen Wolverines are set to represent U-M in the Sunshine State in 10 individual events and one relay. Michigan's lineup includes: Stephanie Bertram (800-meter run), Iliana Downing (pole vault), Trinity Franklin (shot put), Sidney Green (400-meter hurdles, 4x400-meter relay), Mary Caroline Heinen (5,000-meter run, 10,000-meter run), Gabriella Newman (high jump), Noelani Phillips (4x400-meter relay), Kourtney Rathke (pole vault), Abigail Russell (shot put, discus), Payton Smith (400-meter dash, 4x400-meter relay), Savannah Sutherland (400-meter hurdles, 4x400-meter relay), Elizabeth Tapper (shot put), and Emma Yungeberg (javelin throw).
• Twelve competitors from each individual event and 12 teams from each relay event advance from each first-round site. The 2025 NCAA Division I Track and Field Championships will be held June 11-14 hosted by Oregon at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.
• Michigan finished ninth at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships last weekend, breaking two records and earning four medals.
• Sutherland (55.37 seconds) and Green (57.47) finished 1-2 in the 400-meter hurdles, with Sutherland winning the title for the third straight season.
• Tapper took silver in the shot put with a personal-best mark of 17.65 meters (57-11) while Yungeberg finished fourth in the javelin throw with a personal-best mark of 53.08m (191-6). The pair both set program records in their respective events.
• The 4x400-meter relay team of Smith, Sutherland, Green and Trinity Henderson won bronze with a time of 3:32.47 to cross the finish line 0.52 seconds ahead of fourth-place UCLA.
• Field events will kick off both days, starting with the javelin throw at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday and the discus throw at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
