ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan women's golf head coach Jan Dowling announced Friday (May 23) the signing of Reese Ng to the Big Ten Athletic Scholarship Agreement.
Originally a Class of 2026 standout, Ng reclassified and joined the Wolverines early. Dowling welcomes three international golfers for the 2025-26 season after Vanessa Zhang (Beijing, China) and Jaymie Ng (Singapore) signed in early November.
"Reese has competed worldwide in her young career already," said Dowling. "She's been tested on links golf in the UK, on the biggest stages at home in Southeast Asia, and all over the USA. She's a crafty player with great swing mechanics, lots of grit, and hungry to make her mark in collegiate golf.
"She's a dedicated student both in the classroom and on the golf course -- eager to learn, eager to challenge herself, and eager to contribute both on and off the course for the Wolverines. We are so excited to welcome Reese this fall."
A native of the Philippines, Ng ("ing") comes to U-M ranked 824th in the World Amateur Golf Rankings. A member of the Philippine National Team, she was instrumental in helping the national squad to the gold medal at the 2023 Thailand Junior World Championship and a silver medal at the 2023 Southeast Asian Amateur.
So far in her 2025 season, she finished fourth at the Philippines Ladies Open (79-76-74/229), eighth at the Black Mountain Asian Junior Masters (74-78-72/222) and 29th at the Queen Sirikit Cup (81-80-74-77/312).
"Committing to playing golf at the University of Michigan a year early is something I never imagined would happen so soon," said Ng. "From the first moment, the energy of the program and the support from Coach Jan and Coach Mandi (Unruh) made it clear this is where I belong.
"I'm excited to grow both on and off the course with the team. What drew me to Michigan was not only the elite golf environment but also its strong academic foundation. I'm proud to be part of a program that pushes excellence in every aspect."
She highlighted her 2024 play, winning three events, including the Founders Cup (75-72-67/214), the Asian Junior Masters (72-71-72/215) and the Callaway Junior Golf Circuit (74-75-74/223). She added a runner-up finish at the Asian Junior Masters qualifier (74-76-73/223) and a third-place finish at the Philippine Ladies Open (76-74-71/221). In AJGA play, she recorded four top-20 finishes, highlighted by a tie for fourth at the Dana Incorporated Junior Open (72-72-72/216) and a tie for fifth at the AM Technical Solutions Junior (75-69-77/221).
In 2023, she earned the overall and U16 Division medalist honors at the Golf Fobisia (69-75/144) with a runner-up at the Thailand Amateur and Junior Open qualifier (75-74-74/223). In AJGA events, she tied for third at the Ann Arbor Preview (71-75-75/221), was fourth at Mercy Health Foundation Junior All-Star (68-76-69/213), and had a seventh-place finish at Junior All-Star at Windham (73-75/148).
The Wolverines highlight the upcoming 2025-26 season hosting a pair of events at the U-M golf Course -- the Wolverine Invitational (Sept. 14-15) and one of six NCAA regionals (May 11-13) in the spring season.
