MADISON, Wis. -- Behind a career-best performance from junior Thomasine Bartholdson, the University of Michigan women's golf team posted a final-round 292 (+4) on Tuesday (Sept. 15) to finish sixth at the Badger Invitational at Wisconsin's University Ridge Golf Course.
The Wolverines finished their season opener with an 881 (+17) 54-hole total after battling changing weather conditions throughout the three-day event.
Getting off to a strong start, U-M used matching 70s (-2) from Bartholdson and sophomore Reese Ng, who tied her career low, along with sophomore Jaymie Ng's 71 (-1), to post an opening 283 (-5) and sit second after the first round.
With drizzle and wind throughout Monday's second round, scores rose across the 16-team field. Bartholdson and Jaymie Ng maintained their strong play, pacing the Wolverines with 73s (+1). Michigan posted a 306 (+18), falling to sixth at 589 (+13), before the field remained at University Ridge to complete half of the final round ahead of threatening weather.

After overnight storms and lightning caused a near two-hour delay Tuesday morning, the Wolverines returned to complete their final nine holes. Bartholdson's career-low 68 (-4) paced the final-round effort as U-M held onto sixth place.
The tournament belonged to Bartholdson, who finished runner-up and recorded Michigan's best individual finish since Lauren Sung opened last season with a runner-up showing at the Wolverine Invitational.
Bartholdson totaled 35 pars, 12 birdies and just seven bogeys across the tournament, carding rounds of 70 (-2), 73 (+1) and a career-low 68 (-4). Her 211 (-5) shattered her previous 54-hole best by nine shots, topping the 220 she posted at both the 2025 Wolverine Invitational and 2025 Illini Women's Invitational.
Behind Bartholdson, Jaymie Ng helped U-M place two players among the top 20. Her career-low 220 (+4) total (71-73-76) tied her for 16th, marking her best career finish and second career top-20 showing. After opening with a career-low-tying 70 (-2), Reese Ng battled through the second round before closing with a 73 (+1) to tie for 48th at 228 (+12).
The Wolverines will make a quick return to Ann Arbor before heading north to Canada for the Canadian Collegiate Invitational, Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 21-22. The two-day, 54-hole event will be played at Beacon Hall Golf Club.
