Notes
• Michigan earned its 34th bid to the NCAA Tournament and ninth straight. The Wolverines reached the Elite Eight in 2022 and 2023 and the Sweet Sixteen in 2008 and 2018.
• The Wolverines are 15-12 on the season and reached the Big Ten quarterfinals, falling to eventual champion UCLA. U-M sits 30th in the ITA computerized rankings.
• Three Wolverines are ranked in singles: Gavin Young (No. 48), Will Cooksey (55) and Benjamin Kittay (71). Young and Kittay rank 25th as a doubles pair after finishing as the runner-up in the NCAA Doubles Championship in the fall. However, Young will be unavailable for the NCAA Tournament.
• Cornell is 15-7 this season and one of four Ivy League teams to make the NCAA Tournament. The Big Red are 38th in the ITA computerized rankings. Their best player, Rady Papoe, is ranked No. 49 with a 20-9 singles record, and Adit Sinha is ranked No. 100. Cornell makes its third straight NCAA appearance and won each of its last two first-round matches in 2023 and 2024.
• The Wolverines own a 7-3-2 record in the all-time series with the Big Red. The last time the teams met was during the COVID-19 condensed 2019-20 season, with Michigan taking a 4-1 win in Ithaca, N.Y. The teams have met five times since the turn of the century, with Michigan going 5-0 in those matches.
• Cooksey and Young captured second-team All-Big Ten honors. Cooksey earned his first league honor with a career-high No. 55 ranking. He has the most victories on the team and has been slotted in the No. 1 position for most of the season, posting a 13-6 dual record and a 21-9 season record. Cooksey has two ranked wins this season, topping Aidan Kim (11) and Ozan Baris (12), and went 7-3 in conference play. During the fall, he went on a six-game win streak, matching his career long.
• A two-time All-American, Young took home his fourth conference honor this season. The senior posted a 12-7 singles record this season, with half of those wins coming against ranked opponents. Additionally, he had a 16-4 doubles record that included a seven-match win streak as he went 6-1 against ranked pairs while reaching the NCAA doubles championship in November.
• Junior Bjorn Swenson enters the weekend on a seven-match singles win streak, one shy of matching his career long. Swenson is 13-7 in dual play and 16-11 overall, with three wins over ranked opponents -- including in his last match, a straight-set win over Emon van Loben Sels (110) of UCLA.
• Michigan is 10-4 when it wins the doubles point and is 5-8 when it drops the opening point.
• The Wolverines boast a 12-4 record against teams outside the ITA top 25 this season.
