
U-M to Begin Home Slate Against Western Michigan, Michigan State

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan softball team (24-8, 4-0 Big Ten) will open its first homestand of 2025, hosting Western Michigan (8-19) at 5 p.m. on Tuesday (March 25) at Carol Hutchins Stadium. The Wolverines then welcome Michigan State (9-15, 1-6 Big Ten) for a three-game Big Ten Conference series beginning Friday (March 28) at 5 p.m. All four games will stream live on B1G+.
Notes
• U-M boasts an all-time record of 628-153-1 at Carol Hutchins Stadium and Alumni Field. Last season, the Wolverines went 14-2 at home, winning each of its first 14 home games before closing with back-to-back losses to rival Ohio State.
• The Wolverines have a 100-29 record against Michigan State and a 50-11-1 record vs. Western Michigan. U-M earned two wins against MSU last season, 11-4 and 5-1, expanding its series win streak to 10 games. Michigan has a three-game win streak against Western Michigan with their last two wins coming by run rule, 9-1 in six and five innings, respectively.
• Freshman Lauren Putz boasted a .417 batting average (5-for-12) with four runs, six RBI and four extra-base hits over U-M's four games at Devon Park in Oklahoma City, Okla., to kick off Big Ten play. She continues to lead the team in all major statistical categories. She has led the Wolverines in hitting four out of seven weeks this season.
• Junior second baseman Indiana Langford continues to shine at the plate with a .417 batting average (5-for-12) and a team-leading six runs scored over U-M's last four games. Langford is second on the team in batting average (.381) from the leadoff spot with 13 walks and a team-best 11 stolen bases.
• Junior first baseman Madi Ramey contributed in a major way at the plate during the weekend with another .417 batting average (5-for-12), highlighted by five hits including a double and the Wolverines' only triple of the weekend. In an expanded role at first base, Ramey is batting .295 on the season with four doubles and four home runs.
• Sophomore Jenissa Conway was another major force at the plate with a batting average of .33 (5-for-15) with three runs and five hits including a two-run dead-center home run. Conway was a perfect 3-for-3 on stolen base attempts while the Wolverines are a combined 39-for-42 on the base paths.
• Michigan batted .306 as a team over its four-game trip to Oklahoma City (Feb. 27-March 8) and outscored its opposition 27-5. The Wolverines boasted 11 extra-base hits, including five home runs, for a team .505 slugging percentage. Five players registered batting averages of .300 or better.
• Senior RHP Lauren Derkowski leads the Big Ten with four shutouts, ranks fourth with 1.87 ERA, second in innings pitched with 101.1 and fifth in strikeouts with 92. Over the weekend series, Derkowski pitched to a 3-0 record with a 1.19 ERA and a save. She held opponents to a .190 batting average with only three runs given up in 17.2 innings.
• Sophomore RHP Erin Hoehn (12-2) ranks third in the Big Ten with 12 wins already this season -- just three away from her total (15) as a rookie last season. Hoehn recorded 10 strikeouts in seven and two-thirds innings of work over the series with a 1.83 ERA -- bringing her season ERA to a 2.22, over a full point lower than her freshman season.
