
Balduccini Shines on Day Three of NCAA Championships

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. -- The No. 8-ranked University of Michigan women's swimming and diving team saw eight swimmers and one diver take part in the third day of competition at the NCAA Championships on Friday (March 21) at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center. Michigan currently sits ninth with a total of 121 points.
Stephanie Balduccini led the way for the Maize and Blue during the preliminary session, earning the top seed in the 200-yard freestyle. Letitia Sim advanced to the consolation final for the second time after placing 14th. In diving, Kiarra Milligan finished 13th in the preliminaries of the three-meter springboard to advance to the 'B' final.
Milligan finished 16th in the consolation final with a score of 237.30 to kick off the finals session. Balduccini battled in the 200-yard freestyle final and finished third with a time of 1:40.69. Sim closed out the individual swims with a time of 58.56 seconds to finish 13th overall in the 100-yard breaststroke. U-M finished 13th in the 400-yard medley relay as the team of Casey Chung, Sim, Brady Kendall and Lindsay Flynn combined to post a mark of 3:29.26.
Michigan will wrap up the NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday (March 22) at Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center. Preliminaries will start at 10 a.m. PT, and finals will start at 6 p.m. PT.
