
Michigan Finishes Ninth at NCAA Championships

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. -- The No. 8-ranked University of Michigan women's swimming and diving team wrapped up competition at the NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday (March 22) at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center. The Wolverines tallied 196 points and finished ninth overall. Virginia captured its fifth straight national championship with 544 points.
Four swimmers earned a second swim on the final day of the championships. Lindsay Flynn and Stephanie Balduccini reached the championship final of the 100-yard freestyle. Letitia Sim punched her ticket to the consolation final in the 200-yard breaststroke, and Hannah Bellard reached the 'A' final of the 200-yard butterfly.
In the evening session, Balduccini finished sixth in the 100 free with a mark of 47.08 seconds while Flynn clocked a time of 47.21 to take seventh overall. Sim secured 13th place in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:07.70. Bellard closed out the individual swims with a time of 1:51.89 to take fifth in the 200-yard butterfly. Bellard joined Olivia Carter as the only woman to post a 200 fly time below 1:52 in program history.
Michigan concluded its 2024-25 season with the 400-yard freestyle relay. The team of Balduccini, Flynn, Brady Kendall and Claire Newman secured fourth with a time of 3:09.97.
