FEDERAL WAY, Wash.-- The No. 8-ranked University of Michigan women's swimming and diving team got off to a strong start on Wednesday (March 19) at the NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships at Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center. Through two events, U-M sits fifth with 46 points.
The Wolverines opened the national championships with a ninth-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of Casey Chung, Letitia Sim, Brady Kendall and Lindsay Flynn combined for a time of 1:34.61 to earn All-America honorable mention.
Following the break, the quartet of Malia Amuan, Stephanie Balduccini, Hannah Bellard and Christey Liang hit the pool for the 800-yard freestyle relay and logged a time of 6:53.63 to take fifth overall and garner All-America distinction.
Michigan will return to action on Thursday (March 20) for the first full day of competition at the NCAA Championships. Preliminaries are scheduled for 10 a.m. PT, with finals starting at 6 p.m. PT.
