
Brady, Long Qualify for NCAA Championships on Day One of East Preliminary Round

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Tom Brady and Jake Wall of the University of Michigan men's track and field team qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships on Day One of the East Preliminary Round at the Kentucky Outdoor Track & Field Complex.
Wall improved with every jump in the long jump, starting out with a 7.13m (23-4.75) on his first attempt and a mark of 7.33m (24-0.75) on his second attempt. His final mark of 7.55m (24-9.25) was good for a personal best and a 10th place finish.
Brady finished sixth in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 29:16.82. Â
Dubem Amene ran a season-best 45.55 in the 400-meter dash, finishing third overall and advancing to Friday's finals.
In the 1,500-meter run, Nick Foster finished third overall with a time of 3:41.66 and will advance to Friday's finals. Trent McFarland finished 47th with a time of 3:55.22.
Miles Brown finished 37th in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:51.23 while Henry Johnson finished 45th with a time of 1:43.06.
Eli Winter competed in the hammer throw but fouled on all three attempts.
U-M will return to the track for Day Two of the East Preliminary Round on Friday (May 24). Field events will open with the discus throw at 1 p.m. and track events will open with the 1,500-meter run finals at 5:15 p.m.
