
Michigan Places Third at Big Ten Championships

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- The No. 10-ranked University of Michigan women's gymnastics team finished third with a team score of 197.225 at the 2024 Big Ten Championships on Saturday evening (March 23) at Jenison Fieldhouse.
Graduate student Sierra Brooks was the individual Big Ten co-champion on the vault (9.975), uneven bars (9.925) and floor exercise (9.950), while Gabby Wilson was the Big Ten co-champion on floor with a 9.950.
Wilson and Brooks tied for second in the all-around with matching 39.525s, while Wilson and Carly Bauman tied for third on the uneven bars with 9.900s. Senior Jenna Mulligan and Bauman tied for fourth with 9.900s on the beam, matching a career best for Mulligan.
For their performances, Bauman, Brooks, Mulligan and Wilson were all named to the Big Ten All-Championship Team.
Mulligan started off the vault rotation with a solid 9.875 and Naomi Morrison returned from injury to match. Brooks paced the Wolverine with a huge 9.975 as U-M went into the second rotation sitting in third with a 49.275 behind Michigan State (49.575) and Minnesota (49.375).
Wilson scored a 9.900 in the second spot with a stuck landing and Morrison notched a 9.850 in the third spot on the uneven bars. Bauman was rock solid with a 9.900 and Brooks stuck her second landing of the day with a 9.925 to pace the Maize and Blue.
Mulligan tied her second career best of the day with a 9.900 and a stuck landing to start the beam rotation and Wilson scored a 9.825. Jacey Vore stepped up with a 9.825, while Bauman paced Michigan with a 9.900. U-M continued to sit in a tie for third with a running score of 147.800 after three full rotations.
Bauman led off the floor with a 9.875 and Reyna Guggino notched a 9.850 in the three spot. Brooks and Wilson finished off their Big Ten careers with matching 9.950s on floor as Michigan finished with a 197.225 and a third-place finish.
Michigan will host the 2024 NCAA Regionals at Crisler Center from April 4-6. The Wolverines will find out Monday (March 25) which teams will join them in Ann Arbor during the NCAA Selection Show at noon on NCAA.com.
