SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The University of Michigan men's track and field team concluded competition on the second day of the Meyo Invitational on Saturday (Feb. 3) at the Loftus Sports Center.
The jumpers had another strong day, taking the top two spots in the triple jump. Berachiah Ajala earned a first-place finish with a personal-best mark of 15.82 meters (51 feet, 11 inches), the third-best mark in program history. Tianhao Wei finished second with a mark of 15.10m (49 feet, 6.5 inches).
Kepler Huntress saw his second personal-best performance of the weekend, running a 1:52.82 in the 800-meter open for an eighth-place finish. In the 800-meter championship, Trent McFarland took first with a personal best 1:49.50, while Henry Johnson finished fourth (1:50.52) and John O'Reilly finished eighth with a personal best (1:51.39).
In the 3,000-meter open, Jack Spamer finished fifth with a time of 8:30.85, while Myles Liss-Riordan finished eighth with a time of 8:31.45. Peter Baracco ran a personal-best 8:16.33 to finish 11th in the 3,000-meter Ryan Shay race.
U-M will remain on the road for its next competition. The Wolverines will split up to take part in the Windy City Invitational in Chicago, Ill., and the Tiger Paw Invitational in Clemson, S.C., on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 9-10). On Saturday (Feb. 10), the rest of the Wolverines will compete at the David Hemry Valentine Invitational in Boston, Mass.
