Big Ten Play to Begin This Weekend as Michigan Hosts No. 20 Notre Dame

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 7-ranked University of Michigan ice hockey team (5-2-1, 0-0-0 Big Ten) opens conference play this weekend when it hosts No. 20 Notre Dame (5-3-0, 1-1-0) in a series at Yost Ice Arena. The teams face off on Friday (Nov. 8) at 6 p.m. and Saturday (Nov. 9) at 7 p.m., with both games to be streamed live on B1G+.
Notes
• The Wolverines moved up to No. 7 in the latest USCHO national poll (Nov. 4) after putting up 5-1 and 5-4 overtime wins at then-No. 5 ranked Boston University this past weekend. Overall U-M is 5-2-1 on the season.
• Michigan's sweep of BU marked the program's highest-ranked sweep since the Wolverines defeated No. 6 Miami in a home series on Jan. 10-11, 2009, and the highest-ranked road sweep since U-M topped No. 7 Wisconsin on Nov. 19-20, 2020. It was the first time BU has been swept at home since 2017 when it dropped two to Minnesota State.
• Michigan took two of the three Big Ten Stars of the Week, with Evan Werner earning First Star and Jackson Hallum taking Second Star. Werner led the Wolverines with three goals and one assist, while Hallum collected his first career hat trick against Boston University.
• All-time, Michigan holds a 90-70-6 record in the series with Notre Dame. The Wolverines are 49-33-4 when playing the Irish at home and won both games last year -- 4-0 and 2-1 on Feb. 23-24.
• Garrett Schifsky and Michael Hage sit atop the team leaderboard with eight points apiece. Schifsky has five goals, three being short-handed, and three assists. Hage has four goals and four assists in seven games. T.J. Hughes follows with six points, and Hallum and Werner each have five.
• Goaltending duties have been split between fifth-year Logan Stein and freshman Cameron Korpi. Stein owns a 3-1 record with a .932 save percentage and a 1.75 goals-against average, while Korpi is 2-1-1 with a .900 save percentage and a 2.67 GAA.
• Michigan finished fourth in the Big Ten standings last year with 36 points, five ahead of Notre Dame. The Wolverines were second in 2022-23, and in 2021-22 it won the conference tournament.
• Michigan Made, a five-part docuseries will follow the Michigan ice hockey team during the 2024-25 season. Sponsored by the University of Michigan Credit Union the trailer was released on Wednesday afternoon.
