
Luca Fantilli Signs with AHL's Charlotte Checkers

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Luca Fantilli, a four-year player with the University of Michigan ice hockey team, has signed with the AHL's Charlotte Checkers on a one-year, one-way contract for the 2026-27 season.
In his four years as a Wolverine, Fantilli played in 148 career games on defense, scoring eight goals and adding 30 assists while blocking 114 shots and finishing a +40. He helped Michigan to three Frozen Four appearances and two Big Ten Tournament titles, while earning Academic All-Big Ten honors three times.
As an alternate caption this past year, Fantilli played in all 40 games and had 17 points on four goals and 13 assists. He finished with 41 blocked shots and a +29 rating. A native of Nobleton, Ontario, Fantilli was one of two defensemen named to the Big Ten All-Tournament Team.
