
Michigan Closes Out Win at Georgia Tech Invitational

ATLANTA, Ga. -- The No. 11-ranked University of Michigan women's swimming and diving team pulled away from the field and won the Georgia Tech Invitational on Sunday (Nov. 24) with 1,475 total points, more than 100 points ahead of the next closest team.
Before the final evening session got underway, Rebecca Diaconescu took the win in the mile with a time of 15:56.12, comfortably earning an NCAA 'B' cut for her performance. Marian Ploger finished second with a mark of 16:11.54. Madison Smith completed the sweep of the top three, clocking a 16:22.20.
Lily Cleason started the final session with a second-place result with a time of 1:55.17. Malia Amuan finished third overall with a mark of 1:55.90.
Stephanie Balduccini tallied another win in Atlanta, this time in the 100-yard freestyle. The sophomore logged a time of 47.33 to take the top spot. Lindsay Flynn and Claire Newman finished second and third with marks of 47.97 and 48.03, respectively.
Hannah Bellard closed out her weekend with a flourish, winning the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:53.45. Freshman Leila Fack took third with a time of 1:57.86.
Michigan wrapped up the trip with a win in the 400-yard freestyle relay as the quartet of Balduccini, Flynn, Brady Kendall, and Newman combined to clock a 3:11.09.
U-M will take an extended break before returning to action against Indiana on Jan. 10 in Bloomington, Ind.
