
Wolverines Set for Great Lakes Regional

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's cross country team will continue postseason competition on Friday (Nov. 15) at 11 a.m. with the Great Lakes Regional at the Silver Creek Metro Park in Norton, Ohio.
Notes
• The Great Lakes Regional will be run at a distance of six kilometers. If U-M finishes in the top two, it will automatically advance to the NCAA Championships on Saturday, Nov. 23 in Madison, Wis. If not, they will await their fate during the NCAA selection show on Saturday (Nov. 16) at 5 p.m. on NCAA.com.
• U-M finished fourth (150 points) at last season's Great Lakes Regional behind an eighth-place finish from Kayla Windemuller (20:35.7) and a 17th-place showing from Samantha Saenz. Windemuller earned an individual bid to the NCAA Championships
• Lani Bloom finished 39th (21.19.4) in last year's regional race, while Samantha Hastie finished 52nd (21.28.8), Lisa Luecke was 66th (21:41.2), and Hannah Pricco finished 67th (21.42.3).
• Gordon, Heinen, Brooke Johnston, Haley Deighan, Jadyn Zdanavage, Leah Hill, Luecke, Rylee Tolson, and Hastie are expected to be in the Michigan lineup on Friday.
• Michigan dropped to No. 7 in the Regional rankings following the Big Ten Championships. Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Toledo, and Ohio State make up the top five.
• The Wolverines opened the postseason at the Big Ten Championships, finishing ninth with 262 points. Oregon won the team title in its debut season in the conference.
• Penelopea Gordon was U-M's lead runner, placing 23rd with a personal best time of 19:53.4.
• Mary Caroline Heinen and Windemuller rounded out the team's top-three finishers. Heinen finished 50th (personal-best 20:17.8) and Windemuller finished 61st (20:26.3).
