AUSTIN, Texas -- Zane Forist of the University of Michigan men's track and field team closed the the Wolverines' NCAA Outdoor Championships with a 24th-place finish in the discus throw on Friday (June 9) at the University of Texas' Mike A. Myers Stadium.
The U-M freshman finished the event with a best throw of 54.17 meters (177 feet, 8 inches), improving on each of his three throws with a series of 52.69 meters (172 feet, 10 inches) and 53.85 meters (176 feet, 8 inches) prior to his final throw. Forist was the only freshman representing the East Region in Austin.
The end of the NCAA Outdoor Championships marks the conclusion of the Wolverines' 20202-2023 season, which included sixth-place showing at the Big Ten Indoor Championships, a fifth-place finish the Big Ten Outdoor Championships. U-M also sent five representatives to the NCAA Indoor Championships in addition to the trio that competed in Austin.
