
U-M to Head to Wisconsin for Big Ten Cross Country Championships

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 19-ranked University of Michigan men's cross country team will travel to Madison, Wis., for the Big Ten Cross Country Championships on Friday (Oct. 27) at 10:45 a.m. CDT. The race will be run at the Thomas Zimmer Championships Cross Country Course and it will be streamed live on B1G+.

• U-M will compete at Thomas Zimmer Championship Course for the second time this season after placing 14th at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational on Oct. 13. Friday will be the first time the Wolverines will battle for the conference title in Wisconsin since 2010.
• The Wolverines enter the conference championships as the highest-ranked team in the league, checking in at No. 19 in the USTFCCCA poll. Wisconsin ranks 24th and Michigan State is receiving votes heading into the conference title meet.
• Tom Brady has led the Wolverines this season, pacing the team in three races. Brady posted his best career 8K time (23:45.4) at the Virginia Invitational on Sept. 23. Last year, Brady placed fourth overall at the Big Ten Championships with a time of 23:52.3.
• Nick Foster is set to compete in his third Big Ten Championships. In 2022, Foster secured 12th overall with a mark of 24:18.1. Like Brady, Foster set a new personal best at the Virginia Invitational, crossing the line at 23:49.2.
• Jack Spamer will run in the conference championship race for the second time in this career after clocking a 24:44.9 and finishing 22nd overall in last year's meet. He has finished inside the top 20 overall in two meets this season, including a 19th-place result at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invititational on Oct. 13.
• Anthony Hancock will look to build off his performance at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational where he finished fifth in the B race with a time of 25:07.2. Hancock joins the Big Ten Championships roster for the second consecutive season after finishing 41st overall in 2022.
• Rounding out the returners from last season's Big Ten roster is Caleb Jarema. The sophomore posted his best career 8K time at 24:25.4 at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational. In 2022, Jarema logged a time of 25:38.5.
• Seven Wolverines will be making their conference championships debut, including three newcomers to the team. Nathan Lopez, Heath McAllister and Owen MacKenzie will race for the Big Ten title in their first season with the Maize and Blue.
