
Wolverines to Wrap Road Swing in Madison against No. 15 Badgers

In its second road game of the week, the University of Michigan men's basketball team heads to Madison, Wis. on Sunday (Feb. 20) for a matchup with No. 15-ranked Wisconsin at the Kohl Center. Tipoff is scheduled for a noon CST on CBS with Andrew Catalon (play-by-play) and Steve Lappas (analyst) on the call.
The Scene Setter
• Michigan closes a two-game road stand with a trip to Madison, Wis. for a Sunday afternoon CBS tilt at No. 15 Wisconsin -- the only regular season matchup between the two programs.
• After an 11-game losing streak at the Kohl Center at the start of 2000, U-M has won three of its last six meetings in Madison, including last season's 67-59 victory (Feb. 14, 2021).
• No. 15 Wisconsin will be U-M's sixth game against a ranked opponent this season. The Wolverines are 1-4 vs. teams ranked in the top 25 with U-M's lone victory coming earlier this month in an 82-58 win over No. 3 Purdue (Feb. 10).
• Michigan's closing slate (six games) includes five opponents ranked in Quad 1 in the NCAA NET rankings and four ranked in the nation's top 25 -- at No. 15 Wisconsin (NET 19), Rutgers (74), No. 12 Illinois (14), No. 19 Michigan State (27), Iowa (21) and at No. 18 Ohio State (17).
• Hunter Dickinson had a career-best seven assists at Iowa (Feb. 17). It was his second career game of 5-plus. He is third on U-M with 55 (2.4apg) this season and also leads the Wolverines in scoring (17.9) and rebounding (8.3).
• Twice in his last three games, DeVante' Jones has recorded a double-double. He had 11 points and 10 assists in the upset of No. 3 Purdue (Feb. 10) and followed with a near triple-double against No. 16 Ohio State (eight points, 10 rebounds, eight assists). Jones picked up his second double-double in three games with 11 points and 10 rebounds at Iowa (Feb. 17). He has averaged 10.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 7.7 assists over the three games.
• With a career-best 28 at Iowa, Moussa Diabate recorded his first career 20-plus point game and tied Dickinson for best single-game output this season. Over his last three games, Diabate has averaged 17.3 points while shooting 71.9 percent (23-for-32) from the field.
• Eli Brooks has 3-plus three-pointers in his last three games, going 10-for-17 from deep (58.8 percent). He leads U-M with 42 total.
• Following this week's two-game road swing, U-M begins a four-game home stretch at Crisler Center. U-M has not played more than two consecutive games in Ann Arbor during the 2021-22 season.
The Big Ten's Elders
• When Michigan heads to Wisconsin, it will feature two of the longest tenured Big Ten players -- U-M's Eli Brooks (149 career games, U-M record) and Wisconsin's Brad Davison (152 career games, Wisconsin record). Both returned for the extra year following the COVID-19 pandemic and are in their fifth seasons at their respective schools.
• Brooks has played in 149 games with the Wolverines, compiling 1,019 points, 360 rebounds, 287 assists and 156 three-pointers. Davison has played in 152 games with the Badgers, compiling 1,709 points, 524 rebounds, 322 assists and 282 three-pointers.
• Brooks leads all Big Ten players with 119 career victories, while Davison has 92.
Big Ten Déjà Vu
• Michigan faces its second set of twins for a second straight road game. First, U-M headed to Iowa City and squared off with Hawkeye twin brothers -- Keegan and Kris Murray. Now, the Wolverines head to Madison and face Badger twins Johnny and Jordan Davis. Johnny has started 23 games and leads Wisconsin in scoring (20.7ppg) and rebounding (8.3rpg), while Jordan has come off the bench in 20 games and is averaging 5.2 minutes.
The No. 15 Wisconsin Badgers
• Right in the middle of the Big Ten title chase, No. 15 Wisconsin (11-4) and No. 12 Illinois (11-4) are a game behind No. 5 Purdue (12-4). Rutgers (10-5) and No. 18 Ohio State (9-4) in the mix as well.
• No. 15 Wisconsin leads the Big Ten and the nation in turnovers per game (8.6). The Badgers add 71.0 points, 35.4 rebounds and 11.2 assists per game.
• Wisconsin is 10-3 at the Kohl Center with losses to Providence (Nov. 15), who is now ranked No. 8, No. 14 Michigan State (Jan. 21) and Rutgers (Feb. 12).
• Big Ten and National Player of the Year candidate Johnny Davis leads the Badgers with 20.7 points per game, which ranks third in the Big Ten and 11th nationally. He has 13 games of 20-plus points and three with 30-plus, including a career-best 37 at No. 3 Purdue (Jan. 3). He adds team-bests in rebounding (8.3 per game), assists (55 total, 2.4 per game) and steals (29 total, 1.3 per game).
• Brad Davison averages 14.7 points and 3.2 rebounds per game and leads the team with 63 three-pointers (2.5 per game). He had a season-best six triples against Michigan State (Jan. 21) with 22 over his last eight games -- a third of his season total.
• Battling an ankle injury the last two weeks, Tyler Wahl averages 11.3 points and 5.5 rebounds per game with a team-best 20 blocks. He also leads the Badgers shooting, going 51.7 percent from the field.
