
Michigan Quartet Named CoSIDA Academic All-District

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Leigha Brown, Emily Kiser, Maddie Nolan and Danielle Rauch of the University of Michigan women's basketball team were each named to the Academic All-District 5 team, as selected by CoSIDA, on Thursday (Feb. 17). First team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot, with the honorees being announced in mid-March.
Brown, a general studies major, has appeared in 18 games this season and is averaging 14.8 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game. She has scored in double figures in all but two games played, highlighted by three 20-point performances. She was named the MVP of the Basketball Hall of Fame Women's Showcase after scoring 25 points to lead Michigan past then-No. 5 Baylor (Dec. 19).
Kiser is having a career year for the Maize and Blue, starting all 24 games and averaging 9.9 points and 8.2 rebounds in 31.4 minutes per game. In her first season as a starter, Kiser has upped her scoring average more than seven points per game after averaging 2.4 points per contest last season. She has four double-doubles on the season and was named to the Big Ten Honor Roll (Nov. 22). She is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection as a communication and media major.
Nolan, a sport management major, has appeared in all 24 games this season en route to averaging 9.3 points and 4.3 rebounds in 28.9 minutes per game. She is Michigan's best three-point shooter on the season, hitting 44.3 percent from long range. She has made at least one triple in 19 games and has 16 games with at least two three-pointers. Nolan was named to the Big Ten Honor Roll this season (Jan. 17) and earned Academic All-Big Ten honors last season.
Rauch has handled the starting point guard duties this season, starting all 24 games and averaging 6.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 32.7 minutes per game. After not scoring in double figures during her first three seasons, she has seven double-figure scoring games this season including a career-best 18 points at Wisconsin (Dec. 9). One of two captains this season, Rauch is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree majoring in applied exercise science.
It is the first Academic All-District honor for each Wolverine.
