
Ito, Pilon Tied for 26th; U-M 13th After Day Two of B1G Championships

» Michigan posted a 310 second-round team total to move up one position to 13th place at 629 after the second day of the Big Ten Championships.

CARMEL, Ind. -- Paced by a pair of 76s from graduate student Brent Ito and freshman Will Anderson, the University of Michigan men's golf team improved to 13th after posting a 310 team tally Saturday (May 1) to give the Wolverines a 629 36-hole total at the Big Ten Championships at the Crooked Stick Golf Club.
Following a 30-minute frost delay, U-M closed the second day of the conference tournament dropping nine shots, posting a 310 second-round tally. After an opening 78 in Friday's (April 30) windy first round, Ito paced the Wolverines in the No. 1 spot, carding a 76, giving him a two-day 154 total (T26th). Anderson followed Ito's lead as he matched his 76 to move up eight positions and is tied for 42nd at 157.
Traveling as U-M's sixth man, freshman Jude Kim was subbed in for Jack O'Donnell, who shot an 86 in the opening round. Playing in his first event since February, Kim fired a career-low 79 to help the Wolverines with a counting round.
After an opening 74, senior Charlie Pilon fell off the pace in the second round with an 80 and is tied with Ito in the 26th position at 154. Junior Patrick Sullivan dropped seven shots from his first-round 86 with a 79 in the second and is 66th at 165.
The Maize and Blue will close the conference tournament playing with Nebraska and Wisconsin in Sunday's (May 2) final round at 8:45 a.m. off the 10th tee.
