Nick Beaty (April 13)
Big Ten Tennis Athlete of the Week -- Senior Nick Beaty was named the Big Ten Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week, his first weekly honor. Beaty helped Michigan make history last weekend as the Wolverines swept Michigan State on Friday (April 9) and Sunday (April 11), their third and fourth consecutive shutouts. That feat has not been accomplished by Michigan since since 1987. Beaty played up at No. 3 singles on Sunday, his first ime at the position, and won in straight sets. He also claimed a win on Friday at No. 4 singles. Beaty has an 11-1 record in dual singles this season, has won his last six and is 17-3 in singles this season. In doubles, Beaty also earned a win at No. 2 with Patrick Maloney, a 6-4 victory on Friday, and was given the chance to play at No. 1 doubles with Andrew Fenty on Sunday. Patrick Maloney (April 6)
Big Ten Tennis Athlete of the Week -- Patrick Maloney was named the Big Ten Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week, his first weekly honor. Maloney went 4-0 this past week as Michigan had a perfect weekend with a 4-0 win over Indiana on Saturday (April 3) and a 7-0 win over Purdue on Sunday (April 4). It was highlighted by Maloney's first time playing and winning at No. 2 singles on Sunday winning in straight sets over Michael Wozniak and also won at No. 2 doubles on Sunday. On Saturday, he won matching 6-4 sets vs. Indiana's Carson Haskins at No. 3 singles and took a 6-1 No. 3 doubles match. Maloney is 8-1 in B1G singles this season and has won his last four matches. » Big Ten Release
Ondrej Styler (March 16)
Big Ten Tennis Athlete of the Week -- Ondrej Styler was named the Big Ten Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week, his first weekly honor. Styler won all four of his matches this weekend, two against ranked players, as Michigan upset No. 8 Ohio State in the Wolverines first win over the Buckeyes since 2001. On Sunday (March 14), Styler took down OSU's No. 11-ranked John McNally, 7-6 (3), 6-4 and defeated Bora Sengul of Penn State on Saturday (March 13), 6-3, 6-0. Styler added two wins at No. 2 doubles with partner Connor Johnston, defeating No. 51-ranked Cannon Kingsley and Kyle Seelig of OSU, 6-4, a day after taking down a pair from Penn State, 6-2.
